Advertising for Change
Advertising for Change wears their purpose proudly in their name. They exist to create positive change within the advertising industry by making it more diverse and equitable. Situated in an area as historically creative and steeped in culture as Atlanta, this organization needed a brand identity with deep meaning to match.
This brand was heavily influenced by American history, specifically, the Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s. The main logo uses the font Martin, designed by Tré Seals of Vocal Type Co. The typeface was inspired by posters that were printed for the Memphis Sanitation Strike of 1968, where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”, one of his most famous speeches. The secondary font is Franklin Gothic, another iconic font used in protest posters, political campaigns, and documentary filmmaking.
